In recent years, there has been a growing concern about the impact of violent video games on children and adolescents. Studies have shown that exposure to violent video games can lead to increased aggression, desensitization to violence, and decreased empathy. In some cases, exposure to violent video games has even been linked to real-world violence, including murder.

One of the most disturbing examples of the link between violent video games and real-world violence is the case of Anders Breivik. In 2011, Breivik killed 77 people in a bombing and shooting spree in Norway. In the years leading up to the attack, Breivik spent countless hours playing violent video games, such as Call of Duty and World of Warcraft. He later admitted that these games had desensitized him to violence and made him more likely to commit atrocities.

Breivik's case is not an isolated incident. There have been numerous other cases of children and adolescents who have committed violent crimes after being exposed to violent video games. In 2003, a 14-year-old boy in Japan stabbed his mother to death after playing the video game Grand Theft Auto. In 2007, a 17-year-old boy in the United States shot and killed his parents after playing the video game Halo 3.

The evidence is clear: violent video games can have a negative impact on children and adolescents. Exposure to violent video games can lead to increased aggression, desensitization to violence, and decreased empathy. In some cases, exposure to violent video games has even been linked to real-world violence, including murder.

Parents need to be aware of the potential risks of violent video games and should take steps to limit their children's exposure to these games. Parents should also talk to their children about the dangers of violence and help them to develop healthy coping mechanisms for dealing with anger and frustration.

If you are concerned about your child's exposure to violent video games, there are a number of resources available to help you. You can contact your local mental health center or school counselor for more information. You can also visit the website of the American Academy of Pediatrics for more information on the effects of violent video games on children and adolescents.

Violent video games are a serious threat to the health and safety of our children. Parents need to be aware of the potential risks of these games and should take steps to limit their children's exposure to them. If you are concerned about your child's exposure to violent video games, there are a number of resources available to help you.
